AMA ALLIANE ELECTS NEW OFFICERS AND BOARD MEMBERS AT ANNUAL MEETING
CHICAGO, Ill. – The American Medical Association Alliance installed a new slate of officers at its 88th Annual Meeting on June 21, 2011. Emma Borders of Bernice, La. is the Alliance president for 2011-2012.
Borders has served as President-Elect (2010-11); Director (2007-10); Finance Committee Member (2008-10); Reference Committee on Organizational Affairs Member (2008, 2009); HAP Awards Selection Committee Member (2008); Bylaws Committee Member (2007-08); AMA Foundation Committee Member (2005-06, 2006-07); Election Committee Member (2005, 2006); Health Promotion Committee Member (2004-05); and State President (2002-03). Her community activities have included the American Cancer Society's' Relay for Life; Susan G. Komen, Race for the Cure; Parents' Club - President; Episcopal Women's Organization. Borders holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Louisiana State University. Her husband, Robert Borders, is an anesthesiologist. The couple have 4 sons and 12 grandchildren. Borders' installation speech spoke of the history of the Alliance, and how we must work together for a successful future.
Filling other AMA Alliance officer positions are Pay Hyer of Fort Worth, Tex. as President-Elect; Jo Terry of Knoxville, Tenn. as Secretary; Sarah Sanders of Savoy, Ill. as Treasurer; and Susan Todd of Forth Worth, Tex. as Immediate Past President.
New and continuing Board members are Pat Klettke, Summit Park, Utah; Julie Newman, Wake Forest, N.C.; Mary Rice, Del Norte, Colo.; Debbi Ricks, Los Gatos, Calif.; Mary Shuman, St. Joseph, Mich.; Beverly Wright, Greensboro, N.C.; and Rosemary Xavier, N. Palm Beach, Fla. Ashlie Schooler of San Diego, Calif. will be representing the Resident Physician Spouses; Nancy Schneider, Stockton, Calif. as Health Promotions Chair; Sherry Clarke, Menasha, Wis. as Legislation Chair; and Krista Crawdord-Mathis as Membership Marketing Advisory Committee Chair are on the Board as well.
The newly elected Board Development Committee members are Shar Donovan, Jacksonville, Fla.; Dinah Goldenberg, Fargo, N.D.; Racheal Kunesh, Concord, N.C.; Lynn Moon, Marquette, Mich.; Cami Pond, Fort Wayne, Ind.; Thomas Swan, Zaneville, Ohio; and with Susan Todd, Immediate Past President, presiding as chair.
