Smoke Free Movies

Each year Hollywood recruits approximately 390,000 kids to begin smoking by glamorizing smoking in movies. According to University of California professor of medicine and founder of Smoke Free Movies, Stan Glantz, this is nearly enough to replace all of the smokers who die from diseases related to tobacco use each year.

To combat this staggering statistic the New York State Department of Health and the University of California at San Francisco developed an action program, Screen Out!, for the Smoke Free Movies action network.  In October 2006, the AMA Alliance joined the AMA as well as the American Heart Association to launch a nationwide effort.
