Pennsylvania Medical Society Alliance
The Pennsylvania Medical Society Alliance (PMSA) and Pennsylvania Medical Society (PMS) merged its Presidential Inaugural celebration with the Alliance's Medical Education Scholarship (AMES) fundraiser last October to host "A Celebration of Past, Present and Future."
The AMES fund was established to financially assist deserving medical students enrolled in an accredited Pennsylvania medical or osteopathic school. More than 400 alliance, medical society and physician family members attended the event and were encouraged to participate in the evening's auction. The auction collected 75 items from 17 individual donations, including photography and paintings. All funds raised from the auction and monetary donations went toward the AMES fund, accumulating more than $29,000.
Throughout the past four Annual AMES fundraising events, $81,500 and 38 scholarships have been awarded to Pennsylvania medical students-including the seven awarded in October. Three scholarships were awarded to students of Penn State University College of Medicine; three to Temple University College of Medicine; and one to the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
